Courses are grouped into two series. Tech Demystified covers general digital skills for running a business online — websites, tools, SEO, and the tech basics you can't avoid. Barrier-Free by Design covers digital accessibility from the ground up, from what it is to how to build it into your work. Each series stands alone. You don't have to complete one before starting the other.

A module is a full topic — for example, "Perceivable" or "Getting Started with SEO." Each module is built from several lessons. A lesson is one focused piece of content — usually a short video, a written walkthrough, or a hands-on activity. You can complete a lesson in one sitting. Modules take longer, but you work through them at your own pace.

Yes. The first lesson of every course is permanently free. You can watch the video, work through the material, and see how each course is structured before you commit. It's the best way to check whether the teaching style is a fit for how you learn.

 Every course includes a comment section on each lesson where you can ask questions. If you want more direct support, The Barrier-Free Collective (link will open in a new tab on the main website, sbarnesdesigns.com)— a monthly membership — gives you access to a private community and group Q&A. For hands-on help, the Getting Started Cohort runs four times a year with live sessions.

Yes. New modules are added regularly, especially in the Barrier-Free by Design series. Existing lessons also get updated when standards change — for example, when new WCAG guidance is released, or when a tool covered in a lesson changes significantly. If you own a course, you get the updates.
